mark muto guitar Mark - Guitars

Mark's influences are many and varied. Almost immediately after picking up the guitar, Mark began studying Eddie Van Halen and would watch the video "Live Without a Net", analyzing everything that Eddie would do. From holding a pick, to finger tapping , to how to strut around with a guitar strapped on. Mark absorded it all.

After Eddie, came Yngwie, then Vai, then Satriani. And then, well then Mark chilled out and started listening to music rather than watching technique.

With that the influx of varied influences began. From Garth Brooks, to Boys ][ Men to Bela Fleck, to yes, even Kenny G and Michael Bolton. Recently Mark has been enjoying the hair bands of the 80's and Englands greatest Diva's, the Spice Girls.

While mainly focusing on progressive music with a edge, Mark also constantly delves into new age accoustic work (ala Hedges) and spacey, blues improvisations .

Mark has performed with such greats as Duke Holiway, Glenn Flaherty of the legendary Peroxide and Mr NiceHands , Ryan Kurczak (Click Here for Ryan Kurczak's Official Site), Mark Sullivan, Brian Miller, Jon Sushinsky, Brian "Dief" Diefenderfer, Tom King and Ted Rascha, Brian Byrd, Aaron Long, Rob Bullington, Harvey Becker, and Anil Mahajan.

scott gruber bass Scott - Bass

Scott is a recent convert to bass, having played guitar in all of his previous musical endeavors. His influences range from ABBA to Zappa, with a sizable helping of funk, blues, and soul thrown into the mix.

His musical career began with the Wantagh, NY-based high-school band Sonic Warfare, a power quartet that shattered eardrums all over Long Island with its eclectic mix of blues, rock, and mayhem.

In college, following the short-lived tenure of the cover band The Six-Cent Shooters, Scott again teamed up with Sonic Warfare bassist James Lane for an acoustic duo named Tastes Like Chicken. Their surrealist pop, with tunes such as "Death From Above," "Jean," "Johnny Likes to Smuggle Things," and "The Wall (In Ten Minutes)," thrilled tens of adoring fans.

In late 1995, Scott became the lead guitarist for Sputnik Fly, a polk (pop-rock-punk-folk) quartet that soon became GWU's favorite band. Their catchy tunes, quirky lyrics, and recklessly spontaneous live shows delighted audiences at clubs, frat parties, school events, and venues as exotic as New Jersey and Delaware.

After the breakup of Sputnik Fly, Scott and several Fly alums formed the short-lived What's Up With Chad?, recording the "LePKe" 4-song EP.

Scott's bass style has been described as "sorta like Geddy Lee, only without the talent." Scott's bass influences include Lee, Victor Wooten, Charles Mingus, Stu Hamm, John Pattitucci, Stanley Clarke, and that dude from the Barenaked Ladies.

alex randall drums Alex - Drums

Alex has a wide variety of musical influences. His main grounding is in 80's Rock, Hard Rock, and Heavy Metal. Bands such as Korn, Metallica, Whitesnake, Alice In Chains, Aerosmith, and Motely Crue are some of his many bands that he likes and listens to regularly.

Another strong influence is progressive rock. Bands such as Dream Theater and Rush are the most apparent influences in Alex's playing. It is from these bands comes Alex's desire to push the envelope of musicality, rhythm and time signatures.

Even though Alex has a "heavy" side to him. He also enjoys listening to classical music ("The Planets", "Firebird Suite", etc...) as well as Broadway Shows/Operas ("Carmen", "Phantom of the Opera", "West Side Story", etc...) and even a little jazz from time to time.

To finish of Alex's wide array of influences, he has to give homage to the Spice Girls. Yes, it's true. He has all of their albums, videos, and singles. When asked to explain this strange infatuation with the Spice Girls Alex replys: "just look at Baby Spice" (she's his favorite).

In addition to being the drummer for HotBlack Desiato, Alex also teaches and arranges music for percussion groups at the high school and college levels. He currently teaches at North Hagerstown High School and Shippensburg University. He teaches all percussion instruments used in outdoor and indoor marching percussion activities (snare, tenors, basses, cymbals), the melodic instruments (xylophone, marimba, vibes, timpani), as well as all of the accessory/toy type instruments (shakers, bongos, congas, timbales, cowbells, triangles, etc.., etc.. etc)
